Sharon's amazing birth story

Baby Eden, 2.7kg
41 weeks
At my 40 week appointment at the Birth Center, my fundal height was measuring small and hadn’t changed since 36 weeks so we went to King Eddy's for some scans only to discover that our little girl was in fact really small, and we started having the conversations with the obstetrician to get induced as soon as possible as she was now classed as a IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction) baby. We felt really out of our depths, but used the BRAIN technique we’d learned about from your class to come up with the plan that we’d carry on at home and if we didn’t go into labour spontaneously, come in for an induction a week later.

Baby Luka, 3.24kg

My due date was 10th of August and I had an induction booked for 4th of August because I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in week 32. Our baby boy Luka decided to surprise us, so he arrived earlier than that.

Baby Luna, 4.05kg

I was one of the lucky women who went through early labour every night for a week before our beautiful baby was born. Each night my surges became closer together and were more intense, only to stop all of a sudden in the early hours of the morning!

Baby Jude, 2.67kg
39 weeks
I had a very positive labour and birth even if it did last 20 hours 😊 I went into spontaneous labour a week early on Wednesday 16th August straight after the Women’s World Cup semi-final where Australia played England (seemed very fitting for us).

Baby Riley

We narrowly avoided an induction, I was actually booked at 42+1, but I went into spontaneous labour myself the night of 42 weeks! My midwife was amazing and as soon as I updated that I was in early labour she cancelled my induction and said “have a beautiful day getting into labour” which is exactly what it was!

The birth went really well and we birthed at the Family Birth Centre at Fiona Stanley with our private midwife as planned. I was convinced that I was going to go past my guess date so I was a bit shocked when I went into labour at 38+5

Baby Thomas

After quite a few weeks off work, I was getting impatient for my baby to arrive. As a first time mum, I was nervous and excited. Regularly listening to my Hypnobirthing tracks and preparing my affirmations helped keep me calm. I was booked in for a scan at 41 weeks but the night before, did my weekly yoga class and found one position seemed to feel… different. My teacher told me to go home and take it easy. At midnight that night I experienced my first surge! Surges were mild and roughly an hour apart.

Baby Ciaran
39 weeks + 4 days
Unlike my first birth, this time my waters broke first! They started leaking early morning (3.30am) so I went into the hospital. They tested to confirm and sent me home because I wasn't having surges yet. They wanted me back at 9pm to have antibiotics as per hospital policy.
